COMSATS Institute of Information
Technology (CIIT) Islamabad recently held on line test of 300 computer
professionals. The tests were conducted for recruitment in
PTCL
CIIT became the first Pakistani Institute
to hold real-time online test of large number of computer professionals
simultaneously in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi and Peshawar.
This feat was accomplished entirely using
the indigenous solution and software developed by the professionals of
CIITSolutions-a software division of COMSATS Institute of Information
Technology Islamabad. The test was maintained and monitored centrally at
CIIT Islamabad. The candidates for the test in all the designated cities
connected to the test site using the internet. A secure and transparent
system developed by CIITSolutions was used for identification and
authentication of the candidates. To maintain the security and
transparency of test, the software randomly generates questions for each
individual candidate thereby eliminating the use of inappropriate means
for answering the questions.
The testing system has the capability to
test candidates for many subjects and disciplines. The software
automatically and instantly checks and scores the answers of each
question. It is also capable of automatically evaluating and
categorizing the candidates for their skill level being Beginner,
Intermediate for advanced level. The system also automatically generates
merit lists in various orders of merit as required by the examiners.
This software and facility by CIIT
substantially reduces the expenses and efforts incurred on testing a
large number of candidates. OTES- Online “Testing and Evaluation
system by CIIT will go a long way in promoting and advancing the use of
science and technology in Pakistan – as mandated to COMSATS.
