The rainfall wrecked havoc with the downtrodden communities and destroyed more than thousands houses in Badin district. A rain emergency has been imposed in Badin. The district is being evacuated along with two other talukas as it prepares for a possible repeat of the 2003 rain devastation. Though, the untimely rain started early morning on Wednesday was stopped on Friday morning, the fearful people were still seen carrying belongings shifting to safer places. Some villages migrate to Thar were still under water and families have left their abodes, but still waiting for water, food and shelther in ordinary relief camps. Rain badly affected Union Councils Seerani, Bhugra Memon, Kadhan, Ahmed Rajo, Gharo,Tarai and Mithi-III in Badin district. Around 90 percent areas have come under the water and people were shifting to their relatives and safe places on their own.
BADIN, Aug 13: About 1,500 villages and crops over a large swathe of land were flooded when more than 40 breaches occurred in the Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD), along with over 20 saline water drains and irrigation canals, after heavy rain battered southern Sindh’s Badin district.
Mostly all UCs effected in 5 talukas but more and more UCs are effected as LBOD & Canal demges are Pangrio, Khalefo Qasim, Khoski, Dei Jarkus, Khairpur Gamboh, Dadah, of Tando Bago Taluka.
